We will be meeting at our new home, Sharon United Methodist Church. This church is across from SouthPark Mall and is commonly known as the “ski slope” church. The address is 4411 Sharon Road Charlotte, NC 28211. The meeting will run from 6 to 8 pm, gathering and socializing from 6:00, meeting starts at 6:30.
We meet in Room A-17. If you are in the parking lot facing the building, go up the steps to the left and in that door. It is the first room on the left. It looked like there was handicap access, park on the side in a designated space and come across to the far left on the back to avoid the steps.
It’s membership renewal time, still only $25. If you are a prospective member you may visit for the first meeting and then decide about joining.
Jen Hintz of FibroFibers will be talking to the guild about taking
yarn from a hobby to a full-time business. Jen is an indie dyer based
in Concord, and the originator of the Nightfall yarn line. She will
talk about the circumstances that led her to make the leap into
full-time dyeing, and the ups and downs of being a working artist.
There will be sample garments for guild members to see and try on, and
a limited amount of Nightfall yarn available for purchase (cash and
credit/debit cards accepted).
August 6: Chris Wysocki from YarnHouse will be giving us a demo/lesson on Tunisian Crochet. (Supplies needed and any homework will be announced ahead of time.)
September 3: Heather Storta will be talking to us about seaming – specifically horizontal to horizontal and vertical to horizontal seams. (Supplies needed and any homework will be announced ahead of time.)

At the meeting, we will be voting on new officers so it’s important to have folks to attend so we have quorum. if you can’t attend, please give your proxy to another member. We’ll be ramping up for World Wide Knit in Public Day, so we’ll be working on pieces for the yarn art installation on the Mint Museum steps, putting together learn to knit kits and organizing door prizes. So please bring swatches or ufos to donate, unloved needles in larger sizes and dk, worsted or bulky yarn for learn to knit kits. And if you have any charity items for the Batte Cancer Center at Northeast Medical, please bring those too. Plus items for show and tell!
