May 6, 2014 Meeting with HOMEWORK

Gather, knit and chat from 6 to 6:30 pm, meeting from 6:30 to 8:00.  Don’t forget your charity projects, Chelsi will be collecting.  We meet at Sharon United Methodist Church, across from SouthPark Mall, commonly known as the “ski slope” church. The address is 4411 Sharon Road Charlotte, NC 28211.

Business includes voting on officers–need as many members as possible attending.

Meeting topic:  Gauge Workshop presented by Heather:

We’ll explore gauge as in-depth as time allows, and learn how best to get gauge to work for us!
Homework:
With worsted weight wool (preferably a light color to see our stitches well) and size 7 or 8 needles, cast on 25 stitches.  Work in stockinette stitch for at least 4 inches, then bind off in pattern.  If time permits, wet block and dry your swatch prior to the meeting.  (Don’t worry if you don’t have time to do this, though.)
Bring a straight ruler or quilter’s ruler (a tape measure will work in a pinch, but is not preferred), a tapestry needle and some contrasting yarn or thread to the meeting.
Our June meeting will be preparations for ‘WWKiP Day’ and Knitted Flowers.  The WWKiP day event will be Saturday, June 14 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Mint Uptown.
