September 3, 2013 Meeting

We’ll be learning about horizontal/horizontal, stairstep, and horizontal/vertical seams. Building on our previous seaming demo/lesson this summer, Heather Storta will be walking us through these particular seaming challenges. (Don’t worry if you didn’t attend the previous lesson, a handout will be provided that reviews what we already talked about!)

Please bring a tapestry needle, some yarn for seaming, and the following 6 homework swatches with you if you wish to practice at the meeting:

2 small swatches in worsted weight wool: 10 stitches wide and 10 or more rows tall. Bind off normally.

2 stair stepped swatches: 12 stitches wide – knit plain for a few rows, then bind off 4 stitches every other row until all stitches are bound off. (One swatch bind off every other right side, and the other swatch bind off every other wrong side)

1 horizontal swatch: 10 stitches wide and 6 rows tall. Bind off normally.

1 vertical swatch: 5 stitches wide and 20 rows tall. Bind off normally.

This meeting is also a celebration of our 10 years as a TKGA Guild! We’ll have cake to celebrate, and reminisce about all the fun times we’ve had. (Bring your own beverage.) Join us after the meeting for our afterparty at Sir Edmond Halley’s on Park Road. We’ll share some dutch treat food and drinks and socialize some more!

Gather from 6 to 6:30 pm, meeting from 6:30 to 8:00. Bring a project or a question for Show and Tell. Sharon United Methodist Church. This church is across from SouthPark Mall and is commonly known as the “ski slope” church. The address is 4411 Sharon Road Charlotte, NC 28211.

Hope to see you at the meeting!
