Our March program will be on crocheted edgings for our knits, presented by Jenny Raymond.
Jenny Raymond of zJonquil Designs teaches knitting & crochet at Yarnhouse in Charlotte and regional shows. Her husband and 3 clones have been trying not to get stabbed since she began knitting in 2004 and crocheting in 2008.
Homework/supplies (Optional): bring in a standard 4″ slipped-stitch-edged swatch with extra yarn and appropriate hook for playing with ideas.
Jenny will be bringing several books with crochet edgings to pass around/discuss, discussing various applications and techniques, and helping those who do not crochet understand some of the very basics (time permitting).
Excellence in Knitting
We will be holding the Excellence in Knitting program again this spring. We should have an outline of rules and target dates at this meeting. We’ll follow-up with an email for those who can’t be at the meeting.
We are losing our meeting space!
After a long and excellent relationship with Providence Baptist Church, they, unfortunately, will no longer be able to host our meetings. We have already started searching for new space, so if you have solid leads on meeting facilities, contact any board member to discuss your idea. We think that we have some viable options, but we’d hate to overlook any leads.
Want Charlotte to have the best-possible knitting guild? Then join the board and serve! Share your talents as vice-president, treasurer, secretary, membership/marketing coördinator, special event coördinator or charity coördinator. Board meetings are minimal. We typically conduct a lot of business by email. We particularly need energetic, creative and organized people. Shape the guild into being the group you want!
We will announce a new slate of board officers in April and vote in May. If you are interested in learning more, talk with any of the current or former board members for more insight into what involvement might be like.
Directions and Meeting Info
We meet the first Tuesday night of every month at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd, 28211 from 6 – 8 pm The first half hour is knitting and socializing, the remainder of the time is dedicated to learning new things. If you have completed a project since the last meeting, consider bringing the finished object with you for show-and-tell!
